WHAT WE DO

What Every A-1 Removal Includes:

From the first disconnect to the last haul out the door, an A-1 removal leaves the space safe, clean and ready for whatever comes next.

  1. Disconnect and properly terminate electrical circuits, with gas and water shut off and capped by licensed trades where required.
  2. Take the equipment out while protecting floors, walls and door frames, including against winter slush and salt.
  3. Recover refrigerant from refrigeration, ice and HVAC equipment and route everything for recycling under EPA and Wisconsin rules.
  1. Clean the space and leave it ready for its next use.
  2. Time the removal around your new equipment’s delivery and installation.
  3. Document the refrigerant recovery and disposal for your records.
  4. Remove mounting hardware and cap or terminate leftover utility stubs.

SIMPLE, FAST, RELIABLE

How Equipment Removal Works

From the first call to a cleared, safe space ready for what’s next.

Call or Request Online

Call 414-404-9739 or use the online form. Tell us what’s coming out, where it sits, what fuel and power it uses and whether a replacement is on the way. Walk ins and rooftop units get a site visit before removal day.

Schedule Your Removal

We schedule around your hours, your new equipment’s delivery and the weather. In winter, we plan the exit path and floor protection ahead of time, and rooftop removals are timed for the safest conditions.

Disconnect & Remove

A-1 disconnects and terminates the electrical, gas and water are safely shut off and capped, and certified technicians recover the refrigerant under EPA Section 608. The unit comes out without damage to your building and heads to recycling rather than a landfill.

Test, Document, & Follow Up

Before we leave, every connection is checked as safely capped or terminated and the space is left clean. You get a record of the refrigerant recovery and where the equipment went, and if new equipment is going in, installation follows.

Highly Skilled Technicians

A-1 technicians train through Tech24 University across cooking, refrigeration, HVAC and electrical equipment, so they understand how every unit is tied into the building and how to take it out safely.

EPA-Compliant Refrigerant Recovery

Refrigeration, ice and HVAC equipment contain regulated refrigerants. A-1 technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification, pull the refrigerant with approved recovery equipment and keep a record of it.

Clean, Compliant Removal

Every removal is planned in advance, from the exit route to floor and door protection, and old equipment goes to recycling under Wisconsin disposal rules rather than into a dumpster.

Planned Maintenance Programs

Replacing what you’re removing? Start the new equipment on a maintenance plan from day one, with visits timed before winter and before summer.

All Equipment Types And Configurations

Gas, electric, steam and dual fuel cooking equipment, walk ins and refrigeration, rooftop units and make up air, from a countertop warmer to a condensing unit on the roof.

Electrical Disconnects Done In House

Most equipment companies need an electrician for disconnects and leftover circuits. A-1 does its own electrical work, so circuits are shut down, terminated and made safe by the same team that removes the equipment.

Why are leftover circuits and gas stubs a hazard after the equipment is gone?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

High

A removal that stops at the equipment can leave live wires, open junction boxes or uncapped gas lines behind. Those are shock, fire and leak hazards and inspection failures. A-1 terminates circuits and makes sure utilities are properly capped as part of every removal.
What happens to the refrigerant in equipment we're getting rid of?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

High

Coolers, freezers, ice machines and rooftop units hold refrigerant that federal law prohibits venting. An EPA Section 608 certified technician has to recover it with certified equipment before the unit is scrapped, and releasing it can bring fines. A-1 recovers it and records the recovery.
Why should disconnects be done by a licensed technician instead of our staff?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

High

Live electrical, gas and water connections are where removals turn dangerous: shocks, gas leaks and flooding. A-1 handles electrical disconnects itself and makes sure circuits are properly terminated, and gas and water are shut off and capped by licensed trades where Wisconsin requires them.
How do you protect floors and doorways during a winter removal?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Medium

Wisconsin winters mean slush, salt and ice tracked through doors while heavy equipment moves out. A-1 protects floors and door frames along the path and plans the route before lifting. Clearing snow and ice from the exit path ahead of time speeds the job.
What should we do with oil and grease in equipment we're removing?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Medium

Let fryer oil cool completely, then drain it into your used oil container for the recycler; warm oil spills during moving and can burn staff. Scrape grease from griddles and broilers. Tell us when you book so removal happens after the oil is out.
How do you remove a rooftop unit or condensing unit?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Medium

It’s a planned job: power and gas are disconnected, refrigerant is recovered, and the unit comes off the roof curb, often with a crane. In winter, snow and ice on the roof add time and risk, so rooftop removals are best scheduled in milder weather when possible.
Can old commercial appliances go to a landfill in Wisconsin?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Medium

Generally no. Wisconsin bans major appliances from landfills and incinerators and requires refrigerants to be removed first, so old refrigeration and kitchen equipment is recycled instead. A-1 removes it and routes it for recycling.
Why does removal documentation matter?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Low

Federal refrigerant rules call for a recovery record, and landlords, insurers, auditors and your own equipment inventory may need proof the unit was disposed of properly. A-1 provides documentation with every removal.
