How Beverage Equipment Repair Works

What happens after you call A-1 about an ice machine, fountain, frozen drink machine or brewer, step by step.

Call or Request Online

Call 414-404-9739 or use the online form. Tell us what’s failing, whether it’s ice, soda, frozen drinks, coffee or a hot dispenser, and what it’s doing. For fountains, check CO2 and syrup first; an empty tank is the most common reason for flat soda.

Rapid Dispatch

Dispatch sends whichever A-1 technician covers your part of the region, putting ice machines and fountains first during summer service and brewers and hot dispensers first on winter mornings, when each one costs you the most.

Diagnose & Repair

Your technician finds the cause, whether it’s the refrigeration circuit in an ice or frozen drink machine, a scaled heating element in a brewer or a circuit that can’t carry an espresso machine’s load. Repairs use parts from the truck when stocked.

Test, Document, & Follow Up

Before leaving, the technician checks what the machine actually produces: a full harvest of ice, a properly carbonated cup, a frozen batch at serving consistency or coffee brewed at the right temperature. The visit is documented, and the repair carries A-1’s 90 day parts and labor guarantee.

Highly Skilled Technicians

Ice, fountain and frozen drink machines are refrigeration systems, and espresso machines pull heavy electrical loads, so A-1 technicians bring refrigeration and electrical skills to beverage work on top of their Tech24 University training.

We Stock the Most Commonly Used Parts

Trucks carry the beverage parts that fail most: water inlet valves, filters, float and bin switches, carbonator parts, beater blades and seals, heating elements and thermostats, so more calls are finished in one trip.

90-Day Guarantee

Beverage repairs from A-1 are guaranteed for 90 days on both parts and labor through Tech24. Should the same problem return in that window, we fix it at no charge.

Planned Maintenance Programs

Maintenance covers ice machine cleaning and sanitizing, filter changes, condenser cleaning, descaling for hard water, carbonator checks and frozen drink machine service, timed ahead of summer for cold equipment and ahead of winter for hot.

All Equipment Types & Configurations

Countertop, plumbed in and drop in machines, whether it’s one brewer in a small office or the full lineup of ice, fountain and frozen drink equipment behind a busy tavern or stadium stand.

Why does my espresso machine keep tripping the breaker?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

High

A heating element shorting out, a failing relay or a machine on a circuit shared with other high draw equipment. Repeated trips risk damaging the boiler and controls. Stop resetting it and call; A-1 can check the machine and the circuit.
Why won't my soup or hot chocolate dispenser stay hot enough?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

High

A failing heating element or thermostat, or product loaded before it was fully heated. Hot held food has to stay at 135°F or above under the Food Code. In a Wisconsin winter, when soup sales climb, check temperatures with a probe and call if the dispenser won’t hold.
Why can't my ice machine keep up with a busy summer weekend?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

High

Ice machines produce less when the air and water around them are warm, right when bars and patios need the most. A dirty condenser, a clogged filter or a machine sized for an average day instead of a peak one makes it worse. Clean the condenser, check the filter, and ask about a second machine or larger bin.
Why is my milk or juice dispenser not keeping product cold?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Medium

A dirty condenser, a worn door gasket or a failing fan or thermostat. Dairy and juice must stay at 41°F or below, and a warm dispenser means discarded product. Keep vents clear and call if the temperature keeps rising.
Why is my frozen drink machine running but the product stays slushy?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Medium

The mix may have the wrong sugar content, the condenser may be clogged or the scraper blades worn. The machine runs constantly and still can’t reach serving consistency. Check the mix ratio against the manufacturer’s range and call if it doesn’t firm up.
Why is my fountain soda coming out warm or flat?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Medium

Low CO2 pressure, a carbonator pump that’s failing, a chiller or cold plate that isn’t cooling, or syrup ratio drift. Flat soda leads to refunds and complaints. Check the CO2 tank and syrup boxes first, then call.
Why does my coffee brewer run short on hot water during the winter morning rush?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Medium

Winter supply water arrives colder, so the brewer’s tank takes longer to recover between batches, and a scaled or failing element slows it further. Weak coffee and waiting lines follow. Have the element and thermostat checked and the tank descaled.
Why am I finding scale flakes in coffee or hot water?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Low

Hard water minerals building up inside boilers and tanks and breaking loose. Much of southeastern Wisconsin’s well water is hard, which speeds scaling. Scale also slows heating and wears elements. Schedule descaling and consider a water treatment filter.

Do you offer soda machine and beverage equipment repair in Oak Creek and Milwaukee?

Yes. From its Oak Creek office, A-1 Services Group repairs soda machines and beverage equipment throughout southeastern Wisconsin, including Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha and Waukesha.

We service ice machines, fountains and carbonators, frozen drink machines, coffee and espresso equipment and hot beverage dispensers for taverns, restaurants, offices and venues, with 24/7 service for emergencies.

How often should beverage equipment be cleaned and descaled in hard water areas?

Most ice machine manufacturers call for a full clean and sanitize at least twice a year, with water filters changed about as often. Coffee and hot water equipment in hard water areas often needs descaling every few months, depending on volume.

Much of southeastern Wisconsin has hard water, so a filter or treatment system can stretch the time between descaling and protect heating elements. A maintenance plan keeps it on one calendar.

Who should I call when my soda fountain belongs to the syrup supplier?

Check your agreement with the beverage supplier first. Many fountains are owned or maintained by the syrup company, and when they cover repairs, calling them saves you the bill.

When the equipment is yours, or the fault is in the ice machine, the cooling, the plumbing or the power around the fountain, A-1 can fix it. Unsure who’s responsible? Call us and we’ll sort it out with you.

Which beverage equipment brands can A-1 service?

A-1 services all major commercial beverage equipment brands, from ice machines and fountains to frozen drink machines, brewers and espresso machines. Share the make and model when you call so your technician can bring the right parts.

For very specialized espresso equipment, ask when you call; we’ll tell you up front whether A-1 is the right fit or whether a specialist is.

How do Wisconsin seasons change what my beverage equipment needs?

Summer loads cold equipment: ice machines, fountains and frozen drink machines run hardest from Memorial Day through the fall, especially in bars and at outdoor events. Winter loads hot equipment: coffee, hot chocolate and soup dispensers work hardest from November through March.

Schedule maintenance for each group before its season: cold equipment in spring and hot equipment in fall. That puts each machine in top shape right before it’s needed most.
