Frequently Asked Service Call Questions

What happens after I submit a service request?

Our Oak Creek team reviews the priority you picked, assigns a technician who covers your area and confirms timing with you. On site, the technician diagnoses the problem, whether it’s in the equipment, the HVAC or the electrical supply, then repairs, tests and documents it.

If a part isn’t on the truck, you’ll hear what’s needed and when it’s expected before the technician leaves. Including the model and serial number on your request lets us look up parts before the first visit.

How do technicians keep my staff and customers safe during a repair?

A-1 technicians carry the right tools and protective equipment, follow your site rules and isolate the unit before working on it, including locking out electrical power and shutting off gas. They’ll tell your manager up front if a station or area has to be out of use.

In winter, rooftop and outdoor work adds its own risks: icy roofs, snow covered hatches and frozen access points. Technicians won’t take shortcuts on roof safety, so clearing a safe path to rooftop equipment before the visit helps the repair start sooner.

How is the cost of a service call calculated?

Cost is based on labor time, travel, parts and any trade specific fees, such as a refrigerant reclaim fee on refrigeration and HVAC work. After hours work may carry overtime rates, which you approve on the request form before the call is scheduled.

The reclaim fee exists because federal law under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act prohibits venting refrigerant. When a sealed system is opened, the refrigerant has to be recovered with certified equipment and handled properly.

Can I get a quote before work starts?

Yes, for larger repairs and projects. Your technician can give you an estimate to approve before work goes ahead, and for aging equipment or rooftop units, a repair price alongside what replacement would involve.

If replacement makes more sense, Wisconsin businesses may qualify for Focus on Energy incentives on qualifying high efficiency HVAC and kitchen equipment. Ask your technician to help you check before you buy.

How can I pay for service?

A-1 Services Group typically accepts purchase orders, corporate billing and credit cards. The right option depends on your account, so let us know how your business handles vendor payments when you set up service.

Multisite accounts can usually be billed centrally, which keeps invoices for every location in one place.
